This Monday, July 17, members of the Fallbrook Community Planning Group (FCPG) met with the public at the Fallbrook Public Utility District building to discuss updates on the new park being developed on East Fallbrook Street between Golden and Morro.
San Diego County Park Project Manager Riley DeWitt-Rickards unveiled a final rendering of the park layout. Amenities citizens can expect include a native plant garden, multipurpose sports field, play area, small and large dog off leash area, and a brand new skate park – a feature that attendees at the FCPG meeting hope will reduce instances of teens and children skating down the steep hill on Morro.
The park will cover over six and a half acres between Morro and Golden Road, with one vehicle entrance on East Fallbrook Street which will lead to 60 parking spaces. Three pedestrian entrances will lead into the park from Morro Road, with none on Golden per resident request. The park will also be sidewalk accessible from the Fallbrook Community Center.
Village View Park will be fenced at night for the safety and privacy of surrounding residents who will also be glad to know that the proposed layout was evaluated by the Sheriff's Department, with lighting and sightlines that will ensure the new park is safe for Fallbrook citizens.
The park is partially funded by a California National Resources Agency grant, which requires drought friendly plants and conservative water usage to be at the heart of the park's design. Residents can expect native drought resistant plants with interactive signage throughout the grounds.
Groundbreaking for the project is expected in early September, but residents may see activity at the site as early as August. The park is currently scheduled to be completed in December 2024.
