New car wash challenges Fallbrook's Design Guidelines

A new car wash is being proposed on South Mission, replacing the building that was previously the El Jardin Mexican restaurant. The carwash is coming to Fallbrook with plans for a tall, glass front, with a brightly lit, electric blue and yellow trimmed exterior.

Fallbrook Community Planning Group member Jeniene Domercq compared the proposed car wash to one you'd see in Oceanside, "I just don't see how it fits in our community. It's huge and out of place."

A Camp Pendleton resident and father with children attending San Onofre Elementary got involved with the Fallbrook Unified Elementary School District school board when his third grader’s teacher read the class an illustrated children’s book about gender expression outside the gender binary.

The book, “My Shadow is Purple,” is a rhyming illustrated book about a child who feels different because their shadow is neither blue, like their dad’s, or pink, like their mom’s, but purple.

Three days later, when the family returned, they found their house completely destroyed by a Russian shell.

Plans are in progress for Village View Park

This Monday, July 17, members of the Fallbrook Community Planning Group (FCPG) met with the public at the Fallbrook Public Utility District building to discuss updates on the new park being developed on East Fallbrook Street between Golden and Morro.

San Diego County Park Project Manager Riley DeWitt-Rickards unveiled a final rendering of the park layout. Amenities citizens can expect include a native plant garden, multipurpose sports field, play area, small and large dog off leash area, and a brand new skate park – a feature that attendees at the FCPG meeting hope will reduce instances of teens and children skating down the steep hill on Morro.
